Ron Comfort
Ron Comfort returns to Paradigm for the 2016 as a member of the primary design team. Currently residing in Portland, Oregon, Ron has been actively designing, teaching, consulting and adjudicating the pageantry arts for over 25 years. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Association for Performing Arts (NWAPA), Winter Guard International (WGI), and the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit (FFCC). With that association comes a wealth of experience judging for WGI, DCI, NWAPA, ISSMA, and the FFJA among other professional associations. Mr. Comfort co-founded the Shaktai Performance Company in 1990, an independent winter guard program that was a consistent WGI national finalist and led the activity in movement and staging innovation. He also had the pleasure of teaching the Madison Scouts color guard from 1995 – 2000.
Ron's history with Paradigm is extensive, having been primary designer from 2003 through 2007 and again for the guard's return to the floor in 2014. His designs and teams were responsible for taking the guard to a Bronze Medalist position in the WGI Open Class with "The Music of Fleetwood Mac" and as high as 7th in the WGI Independent World Class.
Upon relocating to Portland in 2008, Ron served as the Director or Colorguards at Evergreen High School in Vancouver, WA until 2011. The performing arts community is the place that he calls home more often than not. Immediately after arriving in the Northwest he worked with the Cascades Drum Corps with the commitment to provide a World Class drum corps experience for the students, supporters, and fans of drum corps in the Pacific Northwest.
